Beyond Cinema, an Australian entertainment company, initially announced in July a floating cinema tour of U.S. cities, including Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York, Orlando and Houston. All of the events have now been postponed until 2021 “due to COVID,” according to the promoting website.
The event in Pittsburgh was supposed to take place this week, according to a report on Trib Total Media. Officials with the Pittsburgh Special Events department and the U.S. Coast Guard’s Pittsburgh Auxiliary Unit said they tried, but were never able to contact the organizers.
“We’ve received no further information,” Coast Guard executive officer Steve Miros said Monday. “We reached out.” He also explained that for such an event to be held on the Allegheny, Monongahela or Ohio rivers, the company would have needed to obtain a permit from the Coast Guard.
