Utah National Guard Deployed For Storm Cleanup [Video]

KAYSVILLE, Utah – Soldiers with the Utah National Guard on Friday were helping out in the Beehive State after many communities were struck by hurricane-force winds earlier in the week.

Soldiers were spread out across Davis County picking up branches, cutting wood, and hauling the green waste off. The project is part of an executive order signed by Gov. Gary Herbert that declared a state of emergency.

From Weber County to Salt Lake County, there was significant damage including downed trees, widespread power outages, utility-water breaks, gas leaks, and damage to homes and vehicles.

“We got a bunch of teams up here that have chainsaws and woodchippers,” said Capt. Jacob Stephenson with the Utah National Guard.

(WATE) Twenty-four new coronavirus-related deaths reported in Tennessee on Wednesday for a total of 2,151, a 1.13% increase from Tuesday, according to the Tennessee Department of Health.
